«White Nights» Set of watercolor paints, 24 colors

Dear friends!

Our competition expands its borders, friendships, and goals.

This season we decided to introduce you in detail to the products of ART partner companies, of the Step by Step project.

We present to you the company Neva Palette!

The Neva Palette Artistic Paints Plant has been producing watercolors for 85 years, while maintaining the tradition of producing the highest quality products. Paints are made from fine-grained pigments and a binder from natural gum arabic, recognized as the best vegetable glue for the preparation of water-based artistic paints.

The high concentration and fineness of pigment milling provide the maximum intensity of the color tone of the watercolor. Saturation persists even when diluted with large amounts of water. Pure colors allow you to write in mixtures and get a rich variety of shades. The main part of the paints has the highest indicator of light fastness, which contributes to the safety of work over 100 years.

A bit of digression…

White Nights are the first professional watercolor paints that fell into my hands. A gift in honor of entering the first year of Architecture College, my delight knew no bounds. And for 10 years I worked only with these paints. The palette periodically changed and replenished, but the brand remained unchanged. Of course, for so many years of working with White Nights paints, I have gotten my favorite colors, which are now invariably present in my works, but more on that later.

Today, I will tell you about a new format for me in the White Nights line — this is a set of watercolor paints, 24 colors in tubes of 10 ml of “White Nights”

«White Nights» Set of watercolor paints, 24 colors

The palette consists of the basic colors necessary for the artist to work. Tubes 10 ml. Paints are convenient for studio work and when traveling to open air. Do not require pre-soaking.

The set includes:

Lemon (+++214), Cadmium lemon (+++203), Cadmium yellow medium (+++201), Yellow ocher (++218), Golden deep (+++217), Cadmium orange (+++304), English red (+++321), Cadmium red light (+++302),  Ruby (+++323), Carmine (++319), Madder lake red light (+++313), Lilac quinacridone (+++609), Ceruleum (+++503), Bright blue (+++509), Ultramarine (+++511), Cobalt blue (+++508), Turquoise (+++507), Emerald green (+++713), Green light (+++717), Green (++725), Raw Sienna (+++405), Umber (+++418), Sepia (+++413), Lamp black (+++801).

The set is packed in a cardboard box, and a plastic tray for tubes. On the packaging are the names of all colors and their properties. I prefer to store the tubes in a plastic container. The weight of the kit is not very large — it is very important in many situations, for example — going to open-air, flights, etc.

10 ml metal tubes with a plastic lid — high-quality and convenient, tightly covers the paint (as I was able to see, the lid plays a very important role, I have favorite colors from other manufacturers, but the poor-quality packaging of the tube creates a lot of difficulties in using)

On the packaging, all information about the color presented, in two languages: Russian and English, there is also a production date.

Almost all colors in this set have maximum light fastness — +++

The composition includes pigment, gum arabic and additional components. Percentage, alas, not indicated.

All colors are very bright, saturated, perfectly diluted with water, and of course, all colors correspond to the declared properties.

As I already said, I have been working with White Nights paints for many years, and for myself, I have selected the colors of my favorites, not all of them are present in this set, but of those represented are Cadmium lemon 203, Cadmium yellow medium 201, Ultramarine 511, Cobalt blue 508, Green 725, Umber 418, Sepia 413 — all these colors fully correspond to the identical ones in the ditches. Below are two works using the White Nights paints — both were invited to participate in international exhibitions, and have already managed to see the world.

My beloved Indigo color, unfortunately, is not in this set, but not one of my work could do without it for a very long time.

I would like more active interaction with water: Yellow ocher 218, Ceruleum 503, Raw Sienna 405 — colors are difficult to pick, all three colors are translucent, light fastness +++ or ++, Ceruleum is listed as a granular color -for me, this is a small problem, in some cases, since it is difficult to use for working with transparent sky.

18 colors from this set — one pigmented, 4 colors — granulating

During testing, I wrote several works of different sizes and on different paper with a density of 300 g \ m2. I tried to get out of my comfort zone and used colors that were not typical of my work, I was completely satisfied with the results, and in places, I was even surprised. I present them to your court, dear friends))

The first work — «Fairy Tale» — sketch 23 * 29 cm.

For this work, I used such colors — Cadmium lemon, Ceruleum, Cobalt blue, and mixed Cadmium red light and Madder lake red light, added a little — Bright blue, and dark areas — Sepia. From the personal color palette, the Neva Palette added — Indigo, by the way in the Neva Palette, in almost all combinations, it gives a very picturesque precipitate, when such an effect is needed, I always use the Indigo Neva Palette.

The palette, unusual for me, gave its result — in my opinion, it is excessively bright, but it’s also a “fairy tale”.)))

The second work — “A place that is not there”, 38 * 56 cm

To write this work I used such colors — Cadmium lemon, Cadmium red light, Green, Bright blue, mixed Madder lake red light and Cobalt blue for the sky and dark areas — Sepia.

The result did not at all coincide with the idea of this work, but it did not spoil at all the pleasant impressions of using colors new to me. I will certainly experiment further and still try to realize the original idea.

The third work — “Sunset of Hope”, 38 * 56 cm

The familiar palette and favorite paper made writing this work for me pure relaxation.

I used colors — Cadmium lemon, Ceruleum, mixed Bright blue and Cobalt blue.

Fly in the ointment — to obtain the desired effect, very little added Ceruleum and Indigo from another manufacturer.

For complacency and confirmation of the magnificent properties and colors of this manufacturer, I wrote a small five-minute sketch using only the colors Neva Palette Cadmium lemon, mixed Bright blue and Cobalt blue, Indigo. Size — A4, no name.

And the last work — in a step-by-step version — “The Ghost”, 38 * 56 cm

Such colors were used in the work in various combinations — Ceruleum, Bright blue, Ultramarine, Cobalt blue. Raw Sienna, Umber, Sepia. Burnt Umber and Indigo — from a personal palette.

Camouflage liquid.

Ceruleum Cobalt blue and Indigo precipitated, which is excellent for this work. The sediment also came from using Burnt Umber with Raw Sienna. In general, the conceived multilayering combined with the weightlessness of cosmic motifs gave their unique effect, the work perfectly complemented the series.

Conclusions

Watercolor Neva Palette has long become a famous brand all over the world. My personal experience in using these paints has been going on for more than 10 years, and I do not plan to part with them.

All the declared properties proved themselves, pleased Cadmium lemon 203 and Madder lake red light 313, which went to my personal palette and joined Green and Indigo that had long been living in it.

The White Nights brand is considered an ideal representative of paints in which the price-quality ratio is harmonious, and I fully support this opinion.

The company is constantly pleased with new products and interesting solutions, new series and sets. We will wait for the new surprises and novelties from the Neva Palette )) in the meantime, enjoy your favorite colors and work, dear friends!

Thanks for attention!
